WHY CSA?
People need to be immersed in each of the NSA competencies to have the tools to equip a professional speaking career. We are creating a system that equips serious speakers who have talent, a topic, and the fortitude to make it in this profession.

WHAT is CSA?
CSA is an intensive preparation program for the creation of professional speakers that is held in Colorado on three weekends throughout the year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. It culminates in the video showcase experience which equips the speaker with 10 minutes of video promo material. CSA would be available to affiliates or members of NSA Colorado. Each weekend focuses on one of the competencies of professional speaking, as defined by our parent organization, the National Speaker’s Association. The Competencies (4E’s) of NSA are: Eloquence, Expertise, Enterprise and Ethics. Each competency would be explored in depth at a weekend, with Ethics being blended into each one (rather than offered as a separate event).

HOW does CSA work?
Each weekend contains 4 sessions of 3-3.5 hours each, led by a different professional member of NSA: Most weekends are scheduled Friday evening, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, to accommodate the participant who has obligations during the “work week”. There would be a “Champion” and an NSA Colorado board member present at each weekend to ensure smooth execution. The weekends will be “non-residential” and held at local Denver sites during the day, with participants returning to their own homes at night. The video showcase will be offered in the late Spring as an optional add on to culminate the Academy experience. Academy participants will be offered an hour of professional coaching as part of the Academy package prior to the showcase to ensure the most professional video shoot possible. This service is only available to Academy participants. CSA will be limited enrollment. This will ensure individualized attention and coaching. The sessions will be workshops, with handouts and activities designed to help each person internalize the competency being taught. Screened experts with proven track records will teach each session.

WHEN will CSA happen?
The dates for CSA are:
1) Enterprise: November 30-December 2, 2007
2) Eloquence: January 11-13, 2008
3) Expertise: April 11-13, 2008 (Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and all day Sunday. NSA Colorado meeting is Saturday morning, April 12, and all participants are encouraged to attend).

After each academy weekend, mastermind groups can be formed by the participants. This is an optional suggestion and not run by NSA Colorado, but rather guided by the participants in the weekend. The champions and board members will assist in suggesting guest speakers or recommending topics of interest to the mastermind groups.

The Fees
The Colorado Speakers Academy package costs $2500 for the whole year.
This would include:
• Affiliate membership (or $250 reduced off Professional membership)
• Enterprise Competency weekend
• Eloquence Competency weekend
• Expertise Competency weekend
• Membership in a mastermind group (optional)
• Video Showcase 10 minute spot, with one hour of professional coaching

To participate in Colorado Speakers Academy without the video showcase is $2000, which covers all three weekends. This includes affiliate membership or $250 off professional membership.

To participate in just one weekend, covering one competency is $1000. This does not include membership fees.
